About Annie Stiles-Heller
I am a retired art teacher and full-time painter, spending time daily in my garden studio. I live in Alameda with my husband Steven, and our dog Tessa.
Painting has been an important part of my life for many years: watercolor, acylics, and more recently oils. The Pandemic had a silver lining for me: weekly study sessions with renowned painter David Dunlop. As other activities dropped away, I began painting in earnest every day, a practice my artistic soul had always yearned for! My painting style has consequently evolved in style and technique, so that I now feel I can more easily translate my appreciation of the transcendence of Nature's beauty into my work.
Painting California landscapes has always thrilled me. I love traveling the state, camera in hand, slowly soaking in views of the rolling hills, birds, flowers, mountains, and trees of the Golden State.,
Bringing inspiration home, my regular painting practice affords me the opportunity to enter a "Flow State" as I paint: that magical zone outside of thought and time, akin to meditation.
It is my hope that the beauty I see is communicated in my work, and it is my honor and privilege to share my paintings with the world and you!
